چکیده

Objective
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and diabetic
retinopathy (DR) development is affected by genetic
factors. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are involved
in many cellular processes, such as remodeling of
 extracellular matrix proteins angiogenesis. In
this study, we investigated the relationship between
 MMP9 −1562 C/T (rs3918242) polymorphism the
 of T2DM DR Turkish population.
 Material Method
 A total 510 participants, involving 168 T2DM
 cases with DR, without DR,
174 controls, were included study. The
 polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length
 (PCR-RFLP) method was carried out
 to identify genotypes.
 Results
The CT, CT+TT genotypes T allele associated with
increased risk (p=0.001). On other hand,
 no found between development
 polymorphism. In addition,
 CT (p=0.010) (p=0.015) genotype
 frequencies be higher proliferative
 diabetic (PDR) compared nonproliferative
 (NPDR) cases, but
after regression analysis, only insulin use (p=0.003)
 PDR.
 Conclusion
 Our data show that polymorphism
 Turkish
 patients, but significant was
 severity T2DM.

MMP2 gene-735 C/T and MMP9 gene -1562 C/T polymorphisms in JAK2V617F positive myeloproliferative disorders.

BACKGROUND Myeloproliferative disorders (MPDs) are clonal hematologic malignancies originating at the level of the pluripotent hematopoietic stem cell. Matrix metalloproteases (MMPs) are proteolytic enzymes that contribute to all stages of malignancy progression. Genetic variants in the MMP genes may influence the biological function of these enzymes and change their role in carcinogenesis and ...

MMP9 Promoter Polymorphism (-1562 C/T) Does not Affect the Serum Levels of Soluble MICB and MICA in Breast Cancer

Background: The role of Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) in tumor invasion and progression is prominent. A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the promoter region of MMP9 (-1562 C/T) increases the transcription and expression of this gene. On the other hand, MHC class I chain-related protein A and B (MICA/B) in soluble forms may impair tumor immunogenicity by reducing Natural Killer Group ...

It has been hypothesized that sandfl ies have always been sporadically present in central Europe, but that climate change will lead to extended distribution (10). It is tempting to assume that climate change resulted in cutaneous leishmaniasis at...

Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 Gene Promoter (rs 3918242) Mutation Reduces the Risk of Diabetic Microvascular Complications

BACKGROUND Many studies have evaluated the association between matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) gene promoter polymorphism and diabetic microvascular complications. However, the results are conflicting and inconclusive. The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the association more precisely. MATERIALS AND METHODS Studies were retrieved from the PubMed, Embase, Medline, China National Kn...

Matrix metalloproteinase variants associated with risk and clinical outcome of esophageal cancer.

We conducted a case-control study to investigate the role of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) 2, MMP3, and MMP9 single nucleotide polymorphisms on susceptibility to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in a Chinese population, and their association with environmental factors. A total of 226 patients with ESCC, and 226 age- and gender-matched healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Poly...
